So things here are going great! Heidi is sleeping through the night (knock on wood), taking good naps (knock on wood), learning to get that thumb in her mouth (so she will be a happy camper), and just growing and becoming more beautiful everyday.

Hailee is learning more and more each day, she LOVES school, she is having fun and learning so much at gymnastics, she is a sponge and is ready to soak up antyhing and everything (mommy and daddy have to be very careful), and she is growning into a beautiful young lady.

Bob is working hard for us all, he is learning more about Heidi (as he only sees her for maybe an hour a day), Hailee absolutely adores him, and he is a wonderful and loving father and dad.

And me... I am doing the mom thing, trying to spread my love to each girl (and to my husband), trying to give equal attention to everyone (Bob kind of gets put on t he back burner), trying to get stuff done around the house (that doesn't really get done but I try), I love my family and wouldn't replace or change a thing.

We are all doing well and pretty much taking one day at a time. Things are going pretty great and I feel so blessed. Love you all!

Trying to be Artsy

Here are some pictures I took of Heidi this morning. I was trying to take artsy pictures of her. I don't think I had the right lighting. We are going to try some more later. I am going to get some good Hailee and Heidi pictures together too :o).

Bob's machine shop just got all electricity restored yesterday and they are all working hard to try to catch up on time lost. So, now I will be with out a husband on the weekends as he will be working hard. Oh well... what can you do :o). I think he is happy to get back to things he knows. The past week and a half he has been doing unfamiliar work... such as giving food and water to those with out (do to the hurricane), cleaning the shop (a lot of sweeping was going on), repairing the roof, etc. He was doing anything that he could get paid for :o). We are so very thankful to the Lord for keeping us safe and protecting our home through the hurricane.

3rd Day of School

I am so happy to have school back in session. They were out all last week because of the hurricane (they go with Katy I.S.D. schedule). I am getting stuff done around the house that I can't get done with 2 little ones around :o). Heidi is sleeping a lot of the day so, that really helps me and I will go and pick up Hailee at 2:30. She loves school and looks forward to it everyday (even though we only go 2 days out of the week). I hope the love for school sicks around when she goes to real school ;o). Have a great Tuesday!

Gymnastic classes

Hailee has started gymnastic classes and she loves it. I am so glad we started her in the classes. It is helping her all around and the teachers are great. Here are some pictures I took a few weeks ago....

Okay... so some people (you know who you are) think I am crazy on what I have been blogging about. I want to make this clear... there are places around Katy to get food, diapers, etc. When I was blogging about how I couldn't find these things was because we couldn't find them in stores near our house. You can go to H.E.B. and other stores to find these items but you will have to wait in a "fun" line. Things are getting better though. Resturants are opening and gas stations are getting more gas (in our area). Things actually are gradually getting better everywhere.

Bob did try to go to work again today but, still there isn't enough power to run the machines. They worked some around the shop (cleaning) and then around 9:30 a.m. headed to a POD where they are giving out food to those in need and don't have stores open around them yet. He came home exhausted yesterday and I am sure it will happen again today.

More on Today...

The Salvation Army really didn't need them so, they found out where a POD (where they give food out to peoplein need of it after the hurricane) was and they headed over there. When they got there, there was a huge line and they had to wave over a policeman and they told him they were there to volunteer and the cop let them in and escorted them. The food wasn't there yet and they waited about an hour or so and finally trucks came with the food, water, and ice. He said they worked so hard and it was none stop. Around 4:00 or so they ran out of food and there still was a long line of people waiting for food. The FEMA people said there was more trucks coming so, the guys waited around and nothing came. They ended up calling it a day and left. Who knows if those poor people got there food or if they were sent away having to try again tomorrow. A lot of people in Houston still don't have eletricity, running water, sewage, food, water, or ice. Thank God the weather has been beautiful and not hot. Please keep these people in your prayers :o).

More After Ike...

Bob went to work today (like they said) and there still was not enough power to run the shop. The boss had them do some work around the shop and then it was running low. The owner wants to pay them but, can't pay them for a free day. So, I guess he called around and found work for them to go do else where. Bob called me and told me they needed help over at the Salvation Army so, off they went in the company truck to head over there to do whatever they needed done. The owner was talking about sending them to PODS (where they are giving food and water out to those in need of it) but, I guess they were to far or maybe couldn't get a hold of anyone. I don't know. Phone reception still isn't great here but, mornings are usually better to get a hold of someone.

I am going to head to a grocery store soon to try to get milk and diapers. Hopefully all will go well there and I will be able to get what I need. Hailee, Heidi, and I are going to a church that is having movies and free lunch for anyone who has no power, needs something to do (because school is out), etc. We are going to go and get out of the house :o). Have a great day!

More After Ike...

Tonight I had Bob run to the store and get some stuff that wasn't good from when the power went out... like milk, etc. First, he goes to Wal-Mart and they were closed (Wal-Mart is never closed) with police guarding the store. So, then Bob went to Brookshire Brothers (a local store here) and they were out of milk, diapers, bread, and a lot more needed items. Bob asked the store employees when they are expecting another shippment and they said tomorrow but if we need these items to get there first thing in the morning because those are the first items to go. This is the weirdest thing to me not being able to get the things we need right then and there.

Today we stopped at a gas station to get candy and they were completely out of gas (we went to this gas station the night before and got gas) and there was a lady in there buying the last of the gas stations pint size milk. She told Bob she had been every where looking for milk and this was the last of it. Great huh? When stuff like this happens I get really worried. I know it will all be getting back to normal but, in the back of my mind I keep think what if it doesn't and what will we do.

Tomorrow will be the fun day of trying to get milk and diapers. Wish my luck!

After Ike...

Bob went to work today and there was electrcity but, not enough to run the machine shop. Bob's machine shop had some damage so, all the employees helped board it up and stuff. They say they should have all the electricity tomorrow to continue work but, we will see. Bob said it was pretty dead out there and not much gas.

They have been showing the damage the Hurricane Ike did to Galveston and surrounding areas on the news. It is crazy to see all the tons of houses destroyed and turned into fire wood. But, then there are a few houses still standing on the stilts with nothing but the shell of the house. It is so sad. I believe that they will get everything up and running again and that everything will be stronger :o).

Hurricane Ike

We ended up leaving Katy to go to my grandmother's house up in Tyler. I didn't want to take any chances with an infant and plus I don't do well without power (I NEED A/C). The news was looking horrible on Wednesday so, Bob and I made the decision to leave on Thursday after Hailee went to school. Around 3:00 on Thursday we left for Tyler and it was a little trafficy on 290 (towards Austin) a little stop and go but we were fine and then it was trafficy on 45 North too (but we survived). We ended up getting to Tyler a little before 9:00 p.m. and we were POOPED (it is hard to travel with a 2 month old)! We hung out on Friday watching the news and the crazy reporters in Galveston. It is so hard to keep up on what is actually really happening when you are out of town. All the reports try to blow up everything to make it worse than it really was. Then Saturday we saw what had and was continuing to happen as Ike pushed through Houston. We were still doing great. Ike was moving up near us and the wind was picking up and then the rain but, we still had power. Then around 5:00 p.m. a branch from my grandparent's tree was hanging on the power line. It was blowing sparks (fireworks as Hailee would say) and all the sudden the wind got going and POP POP POP... we lost power. All the neighbors loved us :o). It was okay though... we had a breeze and Mom (my grandmother) had already made dinner (expecting the power to go out). As the storm was moving out of our area it started getting really humid and HOT. We ended up going to bed with no A/C and the windows open and let me tell you that was the WORST night in my entire life. It was one thing after another.... it was hot so it took me a while to fall a sleep... then a dog would bark and then all the neighborhood dogs would bark... then it would be quiet... then Hailee would wake up because someone blew out the candle in our room... then it would get quiet... then Heidi would be up and wanted to eat.... then I would get back to bed and it would be quiet.... and etc. This went on all night... I did not get much sleep and let me tell you I was not a happy camper this morning :o). So we got up and it was beautiful out and cool might I add. We ended up leaving Tyler around 10:30 a.m. and we got back to Katy around 3:00 p.m. Our house was in good condition :o). I have been thanking God for the protection over our house. We had branches down mostly in the back yard and a screen on the front window got blown off but, other then that we are all good. Our street was flooded and our backyard was a swimming pool. I think we may have gotten a little water in our house from the backyard but nothing to be concerned about. We are really thankful that our house, fence, trees, etc. are all still up and nothing damaged. I just praise God for all He has done for us.

First Day of School

Hailee started Preschool today and was so excited! She has been asking me since last school year if she could go to school. So, when I decided to put her in school (in March) I have been having to find a way to tell her how long she would have to wait (that was difficult). At first it was "next year" and then it was "after Heidi gets here" and then it was "a few more months" and then it was "2 months" and then "a few more weeks" and then finally we were counting down the days.... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I woke her up this morning and said "We have to get up to go to school." And she JUMPED out of bed. She got dressed, ate her waffle and drank her orange juice, we fixed hair and brushed teeth, and then we were out the door to take pictures and to get into the car for her first day of school. She was so anxious to get in that classroom and play. I can't wait to hear how it went. I will keep you updated...

First Smile

This was Heidi's first real smile caught by the camera. She has been smiling for a while but, I never could catch it at the right time or she just wasn't up for smiling. She was actually smiling at Hailee but, I was there to catch it. Thanks Hailee!

2 Months Old (already)

Heidi will be 2 months old tomorrow. It is so sad on how fast this is all flying by. We went to the doctor today for her 2 month check up and she is GREAT. She weighs 10.5 lbs. (25%-50%), her height is 23.5 inches long (75%), and her head is 39.5 inches around (50%-75%). She is bigger than Hailee was but, not as tall :o). She had to get 3 shots today (which I HATE) and after it all I was putting her in her car seat and notice she had some kind of weird bite things on her legs. The doctor ended up coming in and looking at them and he said they weren't there when he did the check up and they must of been from the shots or something. He said they looked like hives (poor baby). By the time we were leaving the doctor's office they were going away. I guess she got so worked up over the shots she gave herself hives. LOL! Who knows.

I never get the flu shot or do I get Hailee the flu shot but, this year with her starting Preschool and Heidi being so little I went ahead and had her get the nasal flu stuff. I feel like I did the right thing... I just hope she doesn't feel to bad from it. She was such a big girl about it. She was actually looking forward to it (weirdo). She was not leaving until she got her nose spray. I think with Heidi getting shots she wanted to be involved too. I have been noticing that more... if I put Heidi in a dress of some sorts Hailee has to change and were a dress. It is cute.
