Christmas in Colorado

Hey everyone! We are back and glad to be back :o). We did have a great time in Colorado but, were ready to come home to our own beds and familiar atmoshpere. Here is a little bit of what we all did in Colorado.

The first couple of days we were in the Denver area and they had some snow still on the ground and Hailee was all about playing in it. The first night there was horrible. We got to my mom's house so late and the kiddos were so tired they couldn't go to sleep. Heidi cried for like two hours (not all at one time). Finally everyone fell asleep around 12:00 a.m. We were so tired the next morning. As soon as Hailee got up that first morning all she wanted to do was play in the snow :o). Hailee and Bob went out and played in it. Hailee loves snow! We visited with some frienda and family that day and night. Then around bed time it was bad all over again. Heidi cried again for a while. Then finally fell asleep and I got some wrapping done.

The second day we were there was the day we were supposed to go up to Keystone (in the mountains) but, there was a snow storm moving in. More than likely we weren't going to go up that night because the roads were going to bad. we just sat around that day and waited to hear if we were going to go up or not. We were going to go up with my Aunt, her husband, and daughter who came from Oklahoma. Around 4:30 p.m. my mom called and said y'all are goin up there. Heidi was napping... we weren't packed because we were pretty much told it wasn't going to happen that night. We got over to my uncle's house around 6:00 p.m. and they loaded up the van and off we went. The roads weren't bad but, it was chilly and snowing. we got up to the condo and got everything situated and put the kids to bed. And again it was a bad night.

The thrid day, Bob went skiing with my uncle (who takes him down the black and blue slopes... which are for more experienced skiers). They had so much fun. Hailee and I stayed home and played in the snow while Heidi napped most of the day away... LOL! And the night was bad again. We decided Heidi just couldn't breath from how dry the air was in Colorado and made all kind of yucky boggies in her nose. We found 4 humidifiers in the house (one in each room). We took them and tried them out.

Christmas Eve (the fourth day), everyone went skiing again and had a great time. I hung out in the house and watched kiddos. Hailee played in the snow a bit. Heidi slept the day away again. When everyone got home we went to a church in the mountains. It was a Luthern Church (it was all new to me) and I decided Luthern is a mixture of all Christian denominations. The service was so long. When we got home we went and gave Heidi a bath and got her all dressed and ready for bed. All the humidifiers seemed to leak. We had one that seemed to work but, we were wrong. The carpet was completely wet. UGH! The night was horrible again. Poor baby was probably so uncomfortable.

Christmas day was craziness! We got up and did our Christmas thing. Hailee was so happy to see what Santa brought her on Jesus' birthday. She got everything she wanted (make up and more make up). That is really all she wanted... LOL! Everyone went off skiing again and I stayed home to help with dinner (and to get over the sleepless nights). The kids made a cake to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It was a beautiful cake (and yummy)! Bob hooked up the last humidifier (that he thought was full of mildew) that night and guess what... Heidi slept great! We still didn't get sleep... Hailee decided she wanted to wake up and cry. What is up with that? We asked her what was wrong and no answer. I was soooo MAD!

The day after Christmas was fun! Bob, Hailee, Andrea (my step-sister), and myself went tubing. We had to take a gondala to the very top of the mountain. It was great! We got up there and it was snowing good. When we got outside to get our tubes and slide down the slope the snow was coming down even more. I love every minute of it! Hailee had such a good time too. At the end of our hour Hailee and Bob came down the slope and were waiting to go up the magic carpet (it got you up the slope) and Hailee sarted screaming bloody murder... her feet were so cold and hurting her. Poor baby! I went down one more time and then we headed back to the gondala. The snow stopped and the sun was out. It was so beautiful! As we were walking up the mountain to get the gondala I was about to die. The air is so thin and cold up there that when I got to the top my heart was about to beat out of my chest. I hate that feeling. We got down and headed home. When we got home I put Hailee in the bath to get her warm and she felt so much better. Later that night my friend Jenn and her huband, sister, and son came up to see us. It was so great to see them. They ate dinner with us and sat around and chatted a bit. Then they left and we were so tired we were off to bed. Heidi slept great again! We were so happy but, then Hailee woke up in the middle of the night crying again. Why can't our kids just give us a break?

The last day, we were soooo ready to go home. We missed our own house, our beds, and the space we have between all our family members. Don't get me wrong it was nice to see them but, usually 2 days is the max we can all be together under one roof and we were past the 2 day limit. We left the condo around 10:00 a.m. and headed to idaho Springs to eat at the best pizza place ever... Beau Jo's. They have the best pizza and when you are done and all you have left is the crust... you get some honey and dip your crust in it. It is soooo YUMMY! After that we headed to my mom's house and we hung out there for a few hours and let the girls take a nap. Then it was off to the airport. The flight was good but, then when we got off the plane I was sick. I had to immediately go to the restroom. After my bathroom trip we headed to the baggage claim. We waited about 30 to 45 minutes for our luggage (3 trips to the bathroom). We were not happy. We got on the bus to take us to our car... we got to our car and loaded everything in it. Then headed to pay for the week we had our car in the parking lot... Let me just say... NEVER EVER park your car in the Parking Spot during the holidays. We didn't check the prices before we left so, that part is our fault but, they jacked the prices up to over $11 a day. We had to pay an arm and a leg. We got home (finally) and everyone got to bed and slept GREAT! Bob and I had the best sleep ever :o).

We are so happy to be home. Over all we had a great Christmas and thank the Lord for giving us the oppurtunity to make it to Colorado to spend time with our family. Love you all!

LOL... I guess I have been tagged...

This is what you have to do (I guess)...

1. Open the 4th folder in your computer (I went to 4th folder in my 2008 file of pics).
2. Choose the 4th picture in the folder and post it in your blog.
3. Describe the picture.
4. Tag 4 people.

This picture was taken 4-5-08 and my mom was down here for a visit. Hailee and my mom were looking at turtles in this turtle cage (LOL). I asked them to look up and smile for me and Hailee's eyes were shutting (that is why she looks drunk). The turtles never came out ot their hiding spot.

I tag (I have no clue who checks my blog)... Julie P., Hannah H., Julie G., and Jen L. I hope you know who you are when you read this. LOL!

I love Christmas and it's craziness!!!

Last night Hailee got sick from a virus she received from a friend from school. Around bedtime she started to get a low grade fever so, we gave her some Tylenol to get rid of anything trying to progress. We wanted her to get a good night sleep as we had a big day ahead of us. Hailee woke up around 12:00 a.m. not feeling well and saying her tummy hurt. We had her lay in bed with us and then she started crying. It was an up and down night until I hear Hailee throwing up in the bathroom. Bob was laying down with her in her bed and she throw up on her pillow, on the floor, and then she made it to the tub. Poor baby... she had throw up on her clothes and hair. When she was done I took her clothes off and we went into my bathroom wear she would take shower. As I was waiting for the hot water she said she wanted it hot. I am thinking... hot is not what you need with a 101 degree fever. I got it where it was comfortable and she got in and I gradually made it a little cooler (she didn't know). I cleaned her up as Bob was cleaning the sheets and floor. I got her out of the shower and she was shivering. Her fever broke and she felt so much better. She hopped in our bed and slept with me... while poor Bob was on the couch. He siad there was no room for him. Us girls are crazy sleepers. She woke up this morning and was all better (besides being tired from the night before).

Today, was a big day... she had gymnastics and a Christmas program for school. We ended up not going to gymnastics... which was sad because they just got done doing evaluations and we were going to find out if Hailee got to move up a class and/or what she needs to work on. That is okay though... we can find that out later. We did go to the Christmas program though. Hailee was a Bell Ringer... she sang a song and jingled a bell for ONE song. It was craziness. Her song was the very first one and we had to sit through the entire thing watching everyone else's children. It was cute though. Tonight is going to be good. Everyone is a sleep and should sleep all night. Tomorrow is another day :o).

Visiting with Friends

Today me, a friend, and our 4 kids went up to Kingwood to see our friend (that we really miss). I had a great time... even though it was freezing out, sleeting, and snowing (a few flurries). It is really nice to get out of the house and visit with some of your best friends.

Hailee also had a great time. She got to play with her best bud that she has grown up with and misses dearly. Sometimes she just brings up his name out of the blue and she doesn't understand why we can't just go see him like we use to.

We miss our friends in Kingwood but, at least they didn't move to far. We can make the hour drive up there every once in a while and visit :o). Love ya!

Art Work

Check out Hailee's art work. I guess she didn't think she could get her point across so, she had Bob draw it.

5 months old

Heidi is 5 months old today. It is flying by... I see newborns and I can't believe Heidi isn't one anymore (time for another... LOL... just kidding). She is smiling so much now and just so aware of things around her. She is eating food and doing GREAT! We have introduced all fruits and veggies to her and soon we will be introducing meats :o). We are all having so much fun with her and can't wait to continue to watch her do all her firsts.

Back to School

Hailee is off to school!!! YAY! She has been out for a week due to Thanksgiving holiday and man am I glad it is back. She was glad to go back too. She loves school! We have a few more weeks of school and then they are out again for the Christmas holiday. I am soaking it all up right now.

Family Pictures

Today we are going to Terry Hersey Park to have some family pictures taken. I am so very excited about this because these will be the first family photo since Hailee was 6 months old. I am going to start making it a tradition that we at least get one family photo done a year.

It is going to be a cold windy day. So, lets just hope us girls don't have bad hair in the pictures... LOL. Have a great day!

Christmas Time?!!?

It is Chirstmas time!!! The day after Thanksgiving is the day we put up all our Christmas stuff. I love it! Hailee is at the age now that she knows what we are talking about and is so freakin' excited about it all. All day yesterday she was wanting to put up the tree and finally when we did she couldn't get enough. She wanted to put every ornament on the tree (and she practically did). She was so excited that when she did get an ornamnet for the tree she would rush over there and when she rushed she ran into stuff because whe wasn't paying attention (almost everytime this happened). When we got the tree done it was time to get outside and put lights up on the house. Bob got it done so quick. He is a pro at putting Christmas lights up! It was a good day!

Today, we are going to over to a friend's house and we are going to eat some more :o). We are going to take over some of our leftovers and there are other people coming and they are going to bring over some yummy stuff to eat too. Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I can't believe it is Thanksgiving already. Doesn't it feel like we just did this? LOL! Well I guess not because last Thanksgiving I was pregnant. Today went great. We stayed home this year and did Thanksgiving with just our little family. Bob woke up at 3:00 a.m. (yes he is crazy) to start the grill and to prepare the turkey for a full day of smoking. Around 10:00 a.m. I began cooking. I made a pumkin pie, a cherry pie, mash potatoes, a honey ham, and green bean casserole. We were both busy bees today. Hailee "helped" Bob all day and Heidi was so good. She took really long naps while I cooked :o). We are going over to a friend of ours house on Saturday and we are going to take a lot of our left overs over there to eat :o). It was a great day! I am so thankful for all of you for blessing my life and making each day better then the last. Love you all!

Nothing Really New

So, nothing really new has been going on over here. Hailee had her Thanksgiving Feast at school on Thursday. They ate chicken nuggets, macorroni and cheese, friendship salad, and juice. The friendship salad was made up of all different fruits that each kid was assigned to bring. Hailee was assigned to bring cherries. Yes, cherries. I was confused on what kind of cherries to put in a fruit salad so, I got those Marachino (who knows if that is spelled right) cherries. I guess they were the right kind of cherries because they were in the salad. Heidi is doing well. She is eating and sleeping great and of course growing like a weed. Well I guess that is it for now. Heidi is wanting up.

First Food...

Heidi had her first food last night. We gave her some baby cereal and she actually ate pretty well. I was kind of impressed :o). She was a lot messier then Hailee was... she kept putting her hands and bib in her mouth but, she ate it all up. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she is a better eater then Hailee :o).

Hailee's Mermaid Party

We had Hailee's birthday party yesterday. It was a lot of FUN! We rented a moonwalk for all the kids (and Bob) to jump in, hit a pinata until the candy finally got out (thanks daddy), jumped some more, ate some cake, opened some presents, and jumped some more in the moonwalk. It was a great 4th birthday! Hailee had her best of friends there and family.

4 Years Old

Hailee turned 4 years old today. Can you believe it? I surely can't. This morning we went to the doctor for her 4 year check up and Heidi's 4 month check up. Here is how Hailee's health is doing... LOL! She is 40.5 in. long (50-75%), she weighed 29 lbs. (3-10%), her body mase is 12.9 (3%). For the 4 year check up they do hearing and vision and she has 20/20 vision (in both eyes) and she passed the hearing test. She is doing really well and we are so proud of her. We can't wait to see what God has planned for the next coming year.

Heidi had her 4 month check up today also. She is 25.25 in. long (75-90), weighed 11 lbs. 14 oz. (10-25%) and her head was 41.5 cm around (50-75%). As you can tell her body is a lot like Hailee's was (my little skinny minnies). She is doing really well too. We are going to start her on cereal this weekend and then add foods gradually.

Tomorrow is Hailee's Mermaid Birthday party. We are going to have a moonwalk (that you junp in) and pinata. The kids are going to have so much fun!

Do you ever....

Do you ever get so irritated at the world that you just won't to CUSE them out and tear their heads off? It is like people are out there to make your life a little harder. This week has been just one thing after another. First, it was medical bills that shouldn't even been sent to us but, they still make you worry... so you call about them to make sure they know that you paid your deductible and everything should be covered 100%. Second, people not following through to what they said... a TXU guy came to our house to try to get us to change electric companies. Everything he said sounded great and if I wasn't happy I needed to cancel before the first bills due date. But, what they didn't do was send me a "fake" bill to compare to my Direct Energy bill to see if I would really be saving money (the TXU guy said that a "fake" bill would be sent). Guess what... I got a "real" bill the other day and it was MORE then what I paid last month with Direct Energy. So, I was in the process of switching and changing everything back (TXU already switch everything) and I had to go through the whole process with Direct Energy again and she told me to hold and I hung up. Just because it was going to be a HUGE pain! I decided I was just going to stay with TXU... even though they screwed me. Now I have a headache and don't want to continue what I was doing... CLEANING... which I really have to get done by Saturday. Does anyone feel me out there?

Washing the Poo

Okay... I washed diapers today (even the poohy one) and everything came out just like new :o). I went and got covers that fit today and another pocket diaper :o). We went to the Nurtured Family store after I picked up Hailee from school. Heidi cried the whole time because she was so tired from an unrestful afternoon (all her fault). When we got home I feed her and she went down for a nap. When we got her up she had poohed (in a cloth diaper) and it was a little dried up on her booty. We changed her (I was helping Bob with his first cloth diapering experience) and then I fed her and then it was time for her bath. As I was undressing her I noticed she had a little red booty (maybe a little diaper rash). After her bath I put a disposable diaper on her with desitin (you can't put desitin on with cloth diapers... it can ruin them). Then when I got her up to feed her at 10:00 p.m. we put the bumGenius on. So, we will see how her booty looks later. I am sure you all wanted to know about this :o).

First Poop

Okay... last night I put Heidi in the bumGenius and it worked great. She got up at 5:00 a.m. and she was wet so, I changed her into a prefold and put a cover over it. The cover swallowed her but, I put it on tight. The leg holes were good (I thought) so, I thought that all should be okay. I got her up this morning at 8:00 a.m. and she was wet... literally her clothes were wet, her bed was wet, etc. I took her clothes off and was taking the diaper off and she pooped. YUCKY! They say when they are just breastfeeding that you can just wash the diapers with our rinsing them off. There is no way I can put that in the washer. All I can think about is poo flying all around the washer getting all over the other daipers and getting into the washer holes. Today after I pick up Hailee we are going to this store called Nurtured Family (they sale cloth diapers) and I am going to buy the right size cover (that is why we had a leaking problem... I believe) and a sprayer thing to go on the toilet and you can spray all the poo off the diaper before going in the washer. Sounds like fun huh???

I Got Them...

Tonight around 6:00 p.m. the UPS truck came and the guy brought me my diapers... YAY! As soon as I could I got them in the wash. They are now in the dryer on their last dry cycle. I am so EXCITED! Heidi is in a bumGenius reusable diaper (it is a one size fits all diaper). I double stuffed it and she looks like a pear. LOL! All I can do when I look at her is laugh. Poor baby! I think she has to much stuffing in there... oh well. LOL! I can't wait to use them and see how I deal with the poo. I love it... all this new stuff. I will keep you updated and let you know how my first poo goes in the cloth diapers. LOL!

If you are wondering..

So, those of you who are wondering how the cloth diapering is going... I don't have an answer for you yet. I made an order for prefolds and covers on Tuesday of last week and I am still waiting on them. It is driving me crazy! I am all excited about trying them out and they aren't here yet.. URGH! Mail irritates me. I will give you an update as soon as I start using them. (When I do get them I have to wash them at least 4 times... so you may not get an update for a few more days :o). Talk to you soon.

Four Months Old

Gezzzz... where has these 4 months gone. Heidi will be 4 months old tomorrow and she is growing everyday. It is so much fun having her and I can't imagine my life without her or Hailee. They are such wonderful blessings.

Obama wins

I am in shock! I was so certain McCain was going to win. I thought it was going to be really close but, really and truly that McCain was going to be the next President of the United States. Now I am wondering what is going to happen now. I guess we will just have to wait and see. But, in the mean time... I am going to be praying for the Lords guidiance for Obama and our country.

This morning after dropping Hailee off at school I went and voted. I was scared about how long the line was going to be but, I was going downtown in Old Katy... I kept thinking it couldn't be that crowded. I got there and there wasn't even a line. Then I heard that there were a lot of early voters. Praise the Lord! I didn't want to have to wait in a long line with Heidi. So, it all worked out. This was my first year to vote in the booth with the electronic machine (whatever that is called). My first year to vote was in 2000 and it was all written and 2004 I didn't vote because I wasn't registered to vote in Colorado (I tried to get registered but, it was a PAIN). This year I feel it is so very importnant to vote. This year wil be Bob's first year to vote... LOL! I know shame on him... LOL! If you haven't voted go out and do it. It is such an awesome feeling that we are living in such a free county where we can give our opinion and vote for our leader. I will be praying today at noon for our new President. No matter who it is going to be. He needs guidiance from the Lord more than ever.

I am thinking about switching to cloth diapers rather then disposable diapers. A friend of mine has switched to cloth diapers and she loves it (plus she has been saving money). I have been thinking about it and finally decided I needed to go over and visit with my friend and actually sit and listen and learn about cloth diapering. There are so many different cloth diapers out there... it is all so overwhelming. So, today I thought I would just take a plunge. I went onto eBay and ordered a dozen prefolds and I won them. Now I need to buy a few diaper covers. I decided I needed to just try this and see how it works for me and Heidi. I am actually excited about this. I will keep you updated on how it works out :o).

Halloween Night

We went to our church to the Fall Festival. They have all these different games and of course candy. We left church around 7:00 p.m. and we headed home to do some Trick-or-Treating. We walked around the block and Hailee ended up getting a full bucket of candy. She had a lot of FUN!

Mermaid Costume

Hailee decided she was going to be a mermaid for halloween this year. She is obsessed with mermaids in this stage of her life :o). Today we got the costume in the mail and of course she had to try it on. It fits perfect :o).

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

So finally things are better. Hailee had a little diaherra off and on yesterday but, I am happy to say that today she is totally back to normal. YAY! She went to school today and had a great time. I asked her if her friends missed her and she said yes. Well of course they would miss her... right??

We went and got a couple of pumkins today after school. I got the cutest picture of Hailee and Heidi together. I hope you enjoy it!

We've got the sickness

Tuesday Hailee started having diaherra (and of course it started at school). They called me from school and told me about the diaherra incident and then asked me if I wanted to come get her or wait and see if she has another one. I told them I would like to wait and just see. I never got another call that day... so I thought well that is good. Maybe it was just a one time thing. Well, as soon as we got home she had another one and then later that night she had another. She woke up once that night crying but, Bob got up and laid with her and she fell right back to sleep.

Wednesday was the worst. She woke up to diaherra and ran to the bathroom. She was going constantly the entire day (my hands are so dry from washing them all day). We had her on the B.R.A.T. diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast). I had her drinking water and gatorade (as much as she would take in). Then nap came around and she was running a 100.0 fever so, I gave her some tylenol and sent her to bed. As soon as her head hit that pillow she was OUT (this is bery abnormal for her). She woke up about 3 hours later not in a good mood. Her fever had gone up to 102.2 so, I gave her some motrin. 30 minutes later it began to go down. She never had a fever the rest of the day but, diaherra continued. She started playing and acting like herself. Since she had a fever and diaherra (still) there was going to be no school for Thursday.

Thursday has been okay. I woke her up this morning and she was crabby (she is always like this in the morning). She wanted cereal and/or a waffle but, I said no because her poops were still not normal yet. Of course that didn't make her happy. So, she settled for toast with some cinnamon sprinkled on it (with watered down gatorade). The morning went on with cartoons and then just a minute ago I hear her running to the bathroom and I looked and there she was having more diaherra. It is getting better though (it isn't just water). My poor baby... at least there is no fever (yet) and her tummy isn't hurting.

Rice Harvest Festival

Yesterday we went to the Rice Harvest Festival (Katy has this every year) and Hailee got her face painted and she got a balloon made into Ariel the Mermaid. The mermaid was so cool! It looked just like her but, then her face popped. LOL! She still had her sea shells though... LOL!

3 Months

I can't believe it... it has been a whole 3 months since Heidi was born. It is so crazy! She is growing like a weed and she is really working on sitting up. I think it will be happening soon. I feel so blessed on having 2 beautiful healthy little girls and a great husband.

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

So things here are going great! Heidi is sleeping through the night (knock on wood), taking good naps (knock on wood), learning to get that thumb in her mouth (so she will be a happy camper), and just growing and becoming more beautiful everyday.

Hailee is learning more and more each day, she LOVES school, she is having fun and learning so much at gymnastics, she is a sponge and is ready to soak up antyhing and everything (mommy and daddy have to be very careful), and she is growning into a beautiful young lady.

Bob is working hard for us all, he is learning more about Heidi (as he only sees her for maybe an hour a day), Hailee absolutely adores him, and he is a wonderful and loving father and dad.

And me... I am doing the mom thing, trying to spread my love to each girl (and to my husband), trying to give equal attention to everyone (Bob kind of gets put on t he back burner), trying to get stuff done around the house (that doesn't really get done but I try), I love my family and wouldn't replace or change a thing.

We are all doing well and pretty much taking one day at a time. Things are going pretty great and I feel so blessed. Love you all!

Trying to be Artsy

Here are some pictures I took of Heidi this morning. I was trying to take artsy pictures of her. I don't think I had the right lighting. We are going to try some more later. I am going to get some good Hailee and Heidi pictures together too :o).

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Bob's machine shop just got all electricity restored yesterday and they are all working hard to try to catch up on time lost. So, now I will be with out a husband on the weekends as he will be working hard. Oh well... what can you do :o). I think he is happy to get back to things he knows. The past week and a half he has been doing unfamiliar work... such as giving food and water to those with out (do to the hurricane), cleaning the shop (a lot of sweeping was going on), repairing the roof, etc. He was doing anything that he could get paid for :o). We are so very thankful to the Lord for keeping us safe and protecting our home through the hurricane.

3rd Day of School

I am so happy to have school back in session. They were out all last week because of the hurricane (they go with Katy I.S.D. schedule). I am getting stuff done around the house that I can't get done with 2 little ones around :o). Heidi is sleeping a lot of the day so, that really helps me and I will go and pick up Hailee at 2:30. She loves school and looks forward to it everyday (even though we only go 2 days out of the week). I hope the love for school sicks around when she goes to real school ;o). Have a great Tuesday!

Gymnastic classes

Hailee has started gymnastic classes and she loves it. I am so glad we started her in the classes. It is helping her all around and the teachers are great. Here are some pictures I took a few weeks ago....

Okay... so some people (you know who you are) think I am crazy on what I have been blogging about. I want to make this clear... there are places around Katy to get food, diapers, etc. When I was blogging about how I couldn't find these things was because we couldn't find them in stores near our house. You can go to H.E.B. and other stores to find these items but you will have to wait in a "fun" line. Things are getting better though. Resturants are opening and gas stations are getting more gas (in our area). Things actually are gradually getting better everywhere.

Bob did try to go to work again today but, still there isn't enough power to run the machines. They worked some around the shop (cleaning) and then around 9:30 a.m. headed to a POD where they are giving out food to those in need and don't have stores open around them yet. He came home exhausted yesterday and I am sure it will happen again today.

More on Today...

The Salvation Army really didn't need them so, they found out where a POD (where they give food out to peoplein need of it after the hurricane) was and they headed over there. When they got there, there was a huge line and they had to wave over a policeman and they told him they were there to volunteer and the cop let them in and escorted them. The food wasn't there yet and they waited about an hour or so and finally trucks came with the food, water, and ice. He said they worked so hard and it was none stop. Around 4:00 or so they ran out of food and there still was a long line of people waiting for food. The FEMA people said there was more trucks coming so, the guys waited around and nothing came. They ended up calling it a day and left. Who knows if those poor people got there food or if they were sent away having to try again tomorrow. A lot of people in Houston still don't have eletricity, running water, sewage, food, water, or ice. Thank God the weather has been beautiful and not hot. Please keep these people in your prayers :o).

More After Ike...

Bob went to work today (like they said) and there still was not enough power to run the shop. The boss had them do some work around the shop and then it was running low. The owner wants to pay them but, can't pay them for a free day. So, I guess he called around and found work for them to go do else where. Bob called me and told me they needed help over at the Salvation Army so, off they went in the company truck to head over there to do whatever they needed done. The owner was talking about sending them to PODS (where they are giving food and water out to those in need of it) but, I guess they were to far or maybe couldn't get a hold of anyone. I don't know. Phone reception still isn't great here but, mornings are usually better to get a hold of someone.

I am going to head to a grocery store soon to try to get milk and diapers. Hopefully all will go well there and I will be able to get what I need. Hailee, Heidi, and I are going to a church that is having movies and free lunch for anyone who has no power, needs something to do (because school is out), etc. We are going to go and get out of the house :o). Have a great day!

More After Ike...

Tonight I had Bob run to the store and get some stuff that wasn't good from when the power went out... like milk, etc. First, he goes to Wal-Mart and they were closed (Wal-Mart is never closed) with police guarding the store. So, then Bob went to Brookshire Brothers (a local store here) and they were out of milk, diapers, bread, and a lot more needed items. Bob asked the store employees when they are expecting another shippment and they said tomorrow but if we need these items to get there first thing in the morning because those are the first items to go. This is the weirdest thing to me not being able to get the things we need right then and there.

Today we stopped at a gas station to get candy and they were completely out of gas (we went to this gas station the night before and got gas) and there was a lady in there buying the last of the gas stations pint size milk. She told Bob she had been every where looking for milk and this was the last of it. Great huh? When stuff like this happens I get really worried. I know it will all be getting back to normal but, in the back of my mind I keep think what if it doesn't and what will we do.

Tomorrow will be the fun day of trying to get milk and diapers. Wish my luck!

After Ike...

Bob went to work today and there was electrcity but, not enough to run the machine shop. Bob's machine shop had some damage so, all the employees helped board it up and stuff. They say they should have all the electricity tomorrow to continue work but, we will see. Bob said it was pretty dead out there and not much gas.

They have been showing the damage the Hurricane Ike did to Galveston and surrounding areas on the news. It is crazy to see all the tons of houses destroyed and turned into fire wood. But, then there are a few houses still standing on the stilts with nothing but the shell of the house. It is so sad. I believe that they will get everything up and running again and that everything will be stronger :o).

Hurricane Ike

We ended up leaving Katy to go to my grandmother's house up in Tyler. I didn't want to take any chances with an infant and plus I don't do well without power (I NEED A/C). The news was looking horrible on Wednesday so, Bob and I made the decision to leave on Thursday after Hailee went to school. Around 3:00 on Thursday we left for Tyler and it was a little trafficy on 290 (towards Austin) a little stop and go but we were fine and then it was trafficy on 45 North too (but we survived). We ended up getting to Tyler a little before 9:00 p.m. and we were POOPED (it is hard to travel with a 2 month old)! We hung out on Friday watching the news and the crazy reporters in Galveston. It is so hard to keep up on what is actually really happening when you are out of town. All the reports try to blow up everything to make it worse than it really was. Then Saturday we saw what had and was continuing to happen as Ike pushed through Houston. We were still doing great. Ike was moving up near us and the wind was picking up and then the rain but, we still had power. Then around 5:00 p.m. a branch from my grandparent's tree was hanging on the power line. It was blowing sparks (fireworks as Hailee would say) and all the sudden the wind got going and POP POP POP... we lost power. All the neighbors loved us :o). It was okay though... we had a breeze and Mom (my grandmother) had already made dinner (expecting the power to go out). As the storm was moving out of our area it started getting really humid and HOT. We ended up going to bed with no A/C and the windows open and let me tell you that was the WORST night in my entire life. It was one thing after another.... it was hot so it took me a while to fall a sleep... then a dog would bark and then all the neighborhood dogs would bark... then it would be quiet... then Hailee would wake up because someone blew out the candle in our room... then it would get quiet... then Heidi would be up and wanted to eat.... then I would get back to bed and it would be quiet.... and etc. This went on all night... I did not get much sleep and let me tell you I was not a happy camper this morning :o). So we got up and it was beautiful out and cool might I add. We ended up leaving Tyler around 10:30 a.m. and we got back to Katy around 3:00 p.m. Our house was in good condition :o). I have been thanking God for the protection over our house. We had branches down mostly in the back yard and a screen on the front window got blown off but, other then that we are all good. Our street was flooded and our backyard was a swimming pool. I think we may have gotten a little water in our house from the backyard but nothing to be concerned about. We are really thankful that our house, fence, trees, etc. are all still up and nothing damaged. I just praise God for all He has done for us.

First Day of School

Hailee started Preschool today and was so excited! She has been asking me since last school year if she could go to school. So, when I decided to put her in school (in March) I have been having to find a way to tell her how long she would have to wait (that was difficult). At first it was "next year" and then it was "after Heidi gets here" and then it was "a few more months" and then it was "2 months" and then "a few more weeks" and then finally we were counting down the days.... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I woke her up this morning and said "We have to get up to go to school." And she JUMPED out of bed. She got dressed, ate her waffle and drank her orange juice, we fixed hair and brushed teeth, and then we were out the door to take pictures and to get into the car for her first day of school. She was so anxious to get in that classroom and play. I can't wait to hear how it went. I will keep you updated...

First Smile

This was Heidi's first real smile caught by the camera. She has been smiling for a while but, I never could catch it at the right time or she just wasn't up for smiling. She was actually smiling at Hailee but, I was there to catch it. Thanks Hailee!

2 Months Old (already)

Heidi will be 2 months old tomorrow. It is so sad on how fast this is all flying by. We went to the doctor today for her 2 month check up and she is GREAT. She weighs 10.5 lbs. (25%-50%), her height is 23.5 inches long (75%), and her head is 39.5 inches around (50%-75%). She is bigger than Hailee was but, not as tall :o). She had to get 3 shots today (which I HATE) and after it all I was putting her in her car seat and notice she had some kind of weird bite things on her legs. The doctor ended up coming in and looking at them and he said they weren't there when he did the check up and they must of been from the shots or something. He said they looked like hives (poor baby). By the time we were leaving the doctor's office they were going away. I guess she got so worked up over the shots she gave herself hives. LOL! Who knows.

I never get the flu shot or do I get Hailee the flu shot but, this year with her starting Preschool and Heidi being so little I went ahead and had her get the nasal flu stuff. I feel like I did the right thing... I just hope she doesn't feel to bad from it. She was such a big girl about it. She was actually looking forward to it (weirdo). She was not leaving until she got her nose spray. I think with Heidi getting shots she wanted to be involved too. I have been noticing that more... if I put Heidi in a dress of some sorts Hailee has to change and were a dress. It is cute.

5 Year Anniversary

We have been married for 5 years today. It is so crazy! It seems so much longer but, once I think about it... it has really flown by. I can't believe we have been married for that long and on top of that we have 2 kids now too. So crazy! I will have to say... I am very happy and love everything about my life. I wouldn't replace or change it with anything. Here is a picture of us on our wedding day and one from today.

Yesterday was Hailee's first real gymnastics class and she had a great time (Heidi slept almost through the whole thing). It was interesting to see her listen to someone else besides me and Bob and I would have to say she listened pretty good to her coaches. All the coaches were great and they actualy had the kids work on mini gymnastics techniques. It was really cool to watch! I went ahead and signed her up for gymnastics once a week. I can't wait to watch her grow into a little Gymnastics Star :o).

My big girl

Things are going really good here in the Greene house :o). Hailee has been going to these gymnastic classes that they have open to the public. They have a thing called Open Gym on Saturdays and you drop them off and they do all kinds of fun things while mom and dad go have a night off. That has been really nice because then we all get a break and everyone is happy. They also have Parent's Day Out during the week and you drop your child off in the morning and pick them up at 1:00 p.m. They have all kinds of activities for the kids and all you have to do is make a lunch for your child and be on time to pick them up. Hailee LOVES it! So, I signed her up to take a real gymnastics class and see how it goes. If she likes it, then we will start gymnastic classes.

It is so crazy to see her on her own. When she goes to these gymnastic classes I go in and wait until they start and then I leave and she is there for a few ours on her own (well they have adults there to keep an eye on them and have activities). It is just so crazy to see her as such a big girl and not a baby anymore. I love it but, it is sad too. Before I know it I will be putting her in kindergarden.

Hailee has been fighting me on naps for the past few weeks. Which is fine but, we are still having quiet alone time. I need time by myself as both Hailee and Heidi are taking naps/quiet time at the same time. I am so thankful for this time by myself :o).

Hailee will be starting preschool in a few weeks and I can't wait. She has been asking me for probably about a year if she can go to school. So, I know she is really looking forward to it. We went shopping last weekend for clothes and she knew it was for school so, I think that really helped to show her she is going to start preschool really soon.

Heidi is doing great! She is on a really go schedule and she is sleeping really well (knock on wood). I am so very thankful for my two precious little girls.

Things are Better!

So, things are getting better with napping :o). Now that naps are getting better everyone is a lot happier (especially mommy). When Mommy is happy everyone is happy :o).

Heidi is so much different then Hailee was. Lets just say Heidi likes to cry and sometimes nothing can make her happy. But, Heidi does have happy moments. She likes to go outside and then she falls a sleep. She likes to sleep (well when it is her idea :o). I know that God has made them both very special and very different and I can't wait to see what He has in store for Heidi and us :o).

Kids say the weirdest things...

Hailee and I were watching 'So You Think You Can Dance' and we were watching this couple dance and the girl had this pretty white dress on. Hailee kept saying "That is a pretty dress." She looked at me and said that is you. I looked at her and said "That is me?" and she said "Yes.". I was thinking well that is nice. But am I the dress or the pretty girl in the dress or both? LOL! Silly girl!

Can you believe it?

It has been 1 whole month since Heidi entered this world. I just can't believe it. It is such a blessing to be a mother to her and Hailee. I thank God for them and their health.

Spoke to soon...

I guess I spoke to soon on how everything was going. It is still going good except naps. Actually it is the morning nap that is really screwed up. So, we get up around 8:00 a.m. and she starts to get tired around 9:00 or 9:30 a.m. (normal right?). Well I get her down and like 30 min. later (or sooner) she is up crying. I have let her cry and then I go in there put the (stupid) binki in and then of course it falls out or something and there she goes again. UGH! It is so ANNOYING! I have figured out the problem though... it is her hands. Heidi's hands are every where causing issues. They flare around and pull out her binki when she is trying to go back to sleep. I got some advice to swaddle her tight and to swaddle her high so, that the binki will be secure in there. I have been doing that (or trying to) but, she is so strong she escapes my tight swaddle. So, who knows what to do???? I ended up swaddling her tight again and I put her in the swing and guess what she is out... LOL! Let's see how long this lasts. Sleeping at night is going pretty good though. I guess I can't complain to much because Heidi seems to know when it is night time and everyone is sleeping (knock on wood).

Everyone else is doing great. Hailee has adjusted with no problems. She just wants more attention (which is normal). She will say "Mommy watch" and I will have to look at her and say "Okay... watching" and she does some weird thing (sometimes she makes it up right on the spot because she knows I am watching). She has been a sweet heart though and a big helper :o). Bob is doing good. I think he is trying to find a balance between work, Hailee, Heidi, and me. It has got to be hard for him to give everyone attention and the love they need in just a couple of hours. I am doing good. I am trying not to get to irratable with this whole napping and waking up thing. I can't complain though because I think I am getting some good sleep (knock on wood). Well... until next time...

We are surviving!

This week has been our first full week by ourselves and I will have to admit it has gone pretty good. Everyone is adjusting well and we are all on great schedules. I don't know how I did it or how it happened but, Heidi has been sleeping through the night with only one feeding at like 3:00 a.m. Then we go back to sleep until about 8:00 a.m. (watch... I am going to jinx myself). Again, don't ask me how I did it. Things are going well and I am looking forward to getting some kind of a break this weekend. Thank you BOB!

2 weeks later

It is so CRAZY that 2 weeks have already gone by. She is still such a new baby though but, I can already see her doing new things and figuring out she has hands. Heidi is sucking on her hands and reaching out more (I actually think she is trying to grab things). Grammy (my mom) got here yesterday and Heidi was so interested in who that new person was. It is harder with 2 children but, what a blessing it is :o).

Delivery Details

So, I have been asked to share details on when I had Heidi. I did end up having her natural.

My water ended up breaking in the middle of the night. I was awake due to contractions I was having (that was good it didn't happen in bed :o). Since I was dilated at a 5 already I thought maybe we should go in right away instead of laboring at home for a while. We ended up getting to the hospital around 4:30 a.m. and I wasn't really having any painful contractions. We got to our room and they got me all set up on the monitors and stuff. Then the doctor called to see how things were progressing and the nurse told her that my contractions were still irregular but, for sure my water did break. So, the doctor wanted to get things going a little quicker because I had a little elevated blood pressure (which was due to toxemia meaning they needed to get the baby out). The doctor ordered the nurse to get me started on patosun (who knows if I spelled that right). Oh my gosh.... that was the worst pain ever. With patosun it makes the contractions harder and closer together faster then regular contractions. It got so painful I had the nurse check me and I was dilated a 5 (when I first came in they determined I was at 4 cm). So, I told the nurse I couldn't do it and I needed an epidural. I had to finish 1 1/2 bags of the IV fluids before I could get the epidural. I told the nurse to crank it up. I finished the first bag in like 30 minutes and then the nurse put the 2nd bag up and she called the anisteshiologist (who knows if I spelled that right). It took him only like 30 minutes to get up stairs. Before he came in to do the epidural, I had the nurse check me and guess what... I was at 8 cm almost 9 cm. I wanted to know when to push and feel it so, I said no I didn't want it. After that it was the most painful experience. It was like it was all moving in slow motion too. They started bringing in all the stuff to take care of the baby and getting all the doctor supplies in the room. I JUST WANTED TO PUSH! But, they wouldn't let me. Then they put the stir ups up (which really teased me) and all I wanted to do was PUSH. But, no it wasn't time. Then finally the doctor came in and they told me to push and I was so exhausted I told them I couldn't :o). I ended up pushing 5 times and she came out :o). It was such a great experience and I am glad it all happened naturally because I think I would have been really mad later that I didn't do it. I ended up having really high bood pressure while pushing that I had to stay on IV fluids and magnesium for 24 hours and then I got moved to my postpartum room. Heidi ended up having jaundice and having to go under the lights but, it all worked out. I know God had his hand on us both because we both came out fine and we have a beautiful little girl.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Heidi LeAnne Greene arrived July 6, 2008 at 9:25 a.m. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19 inches long. We are so happy she is here and we feel so very blessed.

4th of July

NO BABY YET! But we did have a great 4th of July. We went out to the Sparks' house and ate, mingled, swam, and shot of firworks. It was a really good time :o). Here are a few pictures...

Monday, June 30, 2008

You all must think I am crazy but, today I had a doctor's appointment (hopefully my last). I am dilated 5 cm and 80% effaced. My doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if I came in tonight but, that doesn't really look like that is going to happening. Who knows though... anything can happen in a few hours... right? We are just waiting.....

Just Waiting!

We are just waiting for labor to start. I keep thinking it could be any day but, now I am thinking I could be pregnant forever :o). I had a doctor's appointment Monday, June 23 and I was dilated to almost a 4. The Thursday before that I was dilated to a 2 and 75% effaced. That is a lot of progress in 4 days but, I guess Heidi just isn't ready yet. I have been having more contractions lately so, hopefully that is getting something going :o).

Hailee is doing great! She is so ready for school to start. We are putting her into Preschool at our church this next school year. Everyday she says "I am going to school next year.". It is so cute. This will be great for her as we probably won't be getting out as much when Heidi gets here. Plus, she will be learning something :o).

Bob is doing good. He is working really hard. We are all so ready for Heidi to get here. Everything is all ready for her. I hope everyone is well and I will talk to you soon.

Memorial Day

What a great day we had! Today was one of those days that you treasure. Nothing to fancy just a plain day that was peaceful. This morning we went swimming and had a great time together as a family. Then later this evening (once it cooled off) we went to the park and Hailee got to fish for the first time. Bob has been wanting to take her fishing for a while so, we finally got a (Barbie) fishing poll and she got to practice and then go out and do the real thing. Hailee loves her daddy so much; it is nice to see her actually having a full day with him with no distractions.

I now have 7 weeks (or so) to go until Miss Heidi gets here. I actually think I am truely ready for her to come into this world and out of my body. I have really enjoyed it but, now I am feeling the Houston heat, I am tired and achy, and so very tired of this heart burn! I am ready for us all to meet Heidi and to bring her home and watch her grow. But again, I have 7 more weeks :o).

Hailee loves Horses

Hailee absolutely loves horses! She talks about them all the time, she plays horses at home (with play horses), and she even gets to go ride every once in a while. She is even starting to ask for a horse. I tell her she needs to ask daddy because I am totally fine with it. She reminds me so much of myself it's not even funny.

Bathing Beauty

Today we were out playing in Hailee's little pool and she started floating in her fish. I thought she looked so cute so, I had to take some pictures of her basking in the sun. She is turning into such a bigger girl. I wonder sometimes... where did the time go?

9 Weeks Left

It is so crazy to me on how fast time really goes by. It seems like I just found out I was pregnant and next thing I know I have only 9 weeks left. Crazy huh? We have decided to name our new bundle of joy Heidi LeAnne. I know... I know... I am going to get Hailee and Heidi so mixed up they are going to think they are the other person :o). They will survive.

We are getting everything finalized (well working on it). Heidi is going to have her own room and it is all painted two different colors of yellow. Hailee was such a big help when we painted Heidi's room. Hailee had her own paint brush and was going at it. She kept saying "So Beautiful!" and "This is for my sister." so, very cute.

Heidi should be here around July 12. I am hoping for a totally different delivery with this one. I am reading a book called Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. Yes, it is true I am really wanting to do something different with this delivery. I had a great experience with my first one. I had an epideral and everything went great. By the time I had to push I could feel the preasure of Hailee coming out and I knew when to push. This time I want to experience my body taking over and knowing exactly what to do. God made our bodies to know what to do and if God willing I want to experience that. This isn't going to be easy because it is going to be a lot of hard work for both Bob and I but, we are learning what to do and how to handle it.

Well, until next time... y'all be good and take care.
